Our Team

We have a dedicated team of clinical and administrative staff who aim to provide the highest standard of care for our patients. Our clinical staff consist of GPs and Practice Nurses who are supported by our administration team. All GPs in our practice are fully registered with the Medical Council and continue to attend Continuing Medical Education (CME) as part of their regulatory requirements and professional development.

General Practitioners

Dr Jarlath Deignan
Irish Medical Council Registration No. 012568

Dr Jarlath Deignan graduated from NUI Galway in 1988 and trained on the Western Training Scheme in General Practice before coming to Tuam in 1996. Dr Deignan has a special interest in men's health and sports injuries and has been doctor to the Galway senior football team. He is a trainer on the Western GP training scheme and has been a tutor to undergraduate medical students. 
Dr Deignan holds post-graduate qualifications in Child Health (DCH), Obstetrics (DObs) and Family Planning. He has attained membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) and of the faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons (MFSEM). He also holds a Master of Medical Science degree (MMedSc) from NUI Galway.

Dr Fionnuala Doyle
Irish Medical Council Registration No. 017489

Originally from Lahardane in County Mayo, Dr Fionnuala Doyle studied medicine in UCD, graduating in 1993. She completed her Vocational training in General Practice with the Donegal training scheme and moved to Tuam in 1999, joining Dr John Cunningham in Bridge House Surgery. She took over this practice following Dr Cunningham’s retirement and in 2006 established Palace Medical Practice with Dr Deignan.
Fionnuala enjoys every aspect of her role as a General Practitioner and has a special interest in women's health. In addition to holding a Bachelor of Medicine Surgery and Obstetrics, she also holds a Diploma in Medicine of the Elderly ( DME) and a diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DObs) as well as being a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners.

Dr Karen Browne
Irish Medical Council Registration No. 354640

Dr Karen Browne graduated from NUIG in 2009 with a MB, BCh, BAO degree. She carried out her specialist training on the Western Training Scheme in General Practice, and graduated in 2016 (MICGP). She has a special interest in Women’s health and Paediatric Medicine.

She has carried out further training in Women’s health, and holds a diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRCOG), a certificate in Family Planning and also holds a LARC certificate (training in the insertion of Long-acting Reversible Contraceptives).

Dr Seán King
Irish Medical Council Registration No. 355235

Dr Seán King studied medicine at NUI, Galway, and was conferred with the MB, BCh, BAO degree in 2009. He trained as a GP on the Mid-Western Training Scheme in Limerick, and is a Member of the Irish College of General Practitioners (MICGP). He joined the team  at Palace Medical Practice in 2018.
Dr King also holds a Diploma in Musculoskeletal Injury Management, and a Professional Diploma in Paediatrics.

Dr Éanna Mac Gearailt

Chríochnaigh Éanna a chéim leighis i gColáiste na hOllscoile Corcaigh i 2015. Tá sé i mbun a bhliain deiridh i scéim oiliúna dochtúir teaghlaigh an Iarthair faoi láthair. Tá réimse leathan do thaithí leighis ospidéil aige tar éis na blianta fada a chaitheamh ann, in Éirinn agus san Astráil. Is cainteoir dúchasach Gaeilge é agus baineann sé úsáid as gach seans a bhíonn aige é a chleachtadh, go háirithe go proifisiúnta. Ciarraíoch go smior is ea é. Tá an-suim aige i spóirt, go mór mhór sa pheil gaelach.

Dr Éanna Mac Gearailt graduated from UCC in 2015. He is currently completing his final year in the Western GP training programme. He has a broad range of hospital medical experience from his time working in Ireland and Australia. He is a native Irish language speaker and is passionate about using it when he can. He is a proud Kerryman and has an avid interest in sport, particularly Gaelic Football.

 

Practice Nurses

Anne Marie Reidy

Anne Marie is a Practice Nurse and Midwife. She qualified as a general nurse from Bon Secours Hospital Cork in 1994 and as a midwife from UHG in 2012. She worked with Dr. Deignan from 2002-2006 and started in Palace Medical Practice in 2019. Anne Marie has a wide range of experience and has completed many courses and training over the years. Special interests include cervical screening, health promotion and disease prevention, midwifery. She is a firm advocate in the importance of nutrition, exercise and lifestyle and the positive impact it can have on health.

Anna Reilly

Anna has been working as a general practice nurse for 20 years and joined the Palace Medical Practice team in 2022. In addition to regular general practice nurse duties her specialist areas of interest include cervical screening, chronic disease management including diabetes care, health promotion and travel health.

Administration Staff

Anna O'Donnell

Anna is the Practice Manager at Palace Medical Practice, having joined the practice
in 2007. 

Patsy Moggan 

 Patsy is the most senior member of administrative staff, with over 40 years experience in General Practice. 

 
 

Mairead Murphy

Mairead has over 15 years experience and has been working in Palace Medical Practice since 2007.

 

Mary Rooney

Mary has been working in General Practice administration for almost 20 years, and has been based here since 2006.

 

Niamh Forde
Niamh is the newest member of the team, having joined in 2021.
