Welcome

Palace Medical Practice is part of a purpose-built medical centre providing primary care to people living in Tuam and the surrounding districts of North Galway. We are a fully-computerised group practice consisting of GPs, Practice Nurses and administrative staff and treat families and individuals for both acute and chronic illnesses. We are also a teaching practice, and are part of Westdoc for out-of-hours urgent GP care. The premises is built on the periphery of the old palace grounds of the local bishop, hence the name. The practice provides free parking for patients and is wheelchair accessible.

Measles Outbreak
In light of the current outbreak of measles, it is recommended that everyone ensures they have been adequately vaccinated against measles. The MMR vaccine is part of the routine childhood immunisation schedule in Ireland : the first dose is given at the age of 12 months, and the second in Junior Infants. If you grew up in Co. Galway but are unsure whether you have received both vaccines, you can contact the Immunisation Office on 091- 546180
for your records. If you have not received both doses of the MMR, or if there remains any uncertainty over whether you have been fully vaccinated, it is recommended that you receive an MMR vaccine now. The HSE advise that anyone born in Ireland prior to 1978 does not require a catch-up vaccine. Vaccines can be given at HSE-run vaccination clinics, or you can contact the surgery to arrange an appointment.
